A beautiful poster depicting the hoopoe, originating from the work "Natur-Geschichte der Deutschen Vögel" by C.G. Friderich. This exceptional work by the 19th-century German ornithologist was published in 1891 in Stuttgart by Julius Hoffmann. Friderich combined scientific accuracy with an artistic approach in his works, making his illustrations not only useful for researchers but also appealing to a broader audience. The hoopoe is a bird with a unique, almost exotic appearance. The engraving presents it in a calm, dignified pose with its crest folded, forming a characteristic, slender extension of the head's silhouette. The illustration faithfully captures the contrasting black and white barring of the wings and tail, which stands out clearly against the warm, clay-rust plumage of the body and head. Attention is also drawn to the long, thin, and slightly curved beak and the visible black tips of the decorative feathers. Friderich precisely captured the elegance and unique anatomy of this species.
