About Us

Hi, I'm Michał and at Stary Zielnik I'm the „tech” person. I support Ania's vision and bring my own ideas to the project. My main job is restoring illustrations from old books. We photograph them, I process them digitally, then we print using the best materials. That's crucial — no book has ever been harmed in our project. Thanks to my experience with graphics software, illustrations that are 100 to 300 years old get a new life. I also handle all technical aspects, from building to developing our website. I've been into graphics for as long as I can remember. I work in eCommerce, mainly on the tech side. At Stary Zielnik I get to follow my passions and use skills from my day job while learning new ones. Though it's a side project, I spend most of my free time on it. Saving amazing prints and illustrations from oblivion is deeply satisfying. I value most that we don't destroy books. You often see cuttings from antique books online — I see that as destroying works and disrespecting the author. We put our heart into every print — some take me hours, because with aged paper you can't use automatic retouching or AI. Every page needs individual attention, and each print gets a piece of my heart.
