Braunelle
A beautiful poster depicting the Crested Lark, originating from the work "Natur-Geschichte der Deutschen Vögel" by C.G. Friderich. This exceptional work by the 19th-century German ornithologist was published in 1891 in Stuttgart by Julius Hoffmann. Friderich combined scientific accuracy with an artistic approach in his works, making his illustrations not only useful for researchers but also attractive to a wider audience. The Crested Lark is a bird with modest yet distinctive plumage, somewhat reminiscent of the skylark, but distinguished by a prominent, pointed crest on its head. The print perfectly highlights this feature, giving it a jaunty appearance. The illustration faithfully captures the bird's camouflaging colors—a blend of grays, beiges, and browns with delicate streaking, allowing it to blend seamlessly into sandy terrains and roadsides. Friderich precisely captured the stocky silhouette and alert posture of this sedentary species.
We photograph each illustration in ultra-high resolution and carefully remove age spots, restoring its brilliance from centuries ago.
